KUKLJICA, a village and small harbour in the south-eastern part of the island of Ugljan, 8 km southeast of Preko. Main occupations are farming, growing of olives, vegetables and fruit, fishing and seafaring. Kukljica is located on the regional road running along the island of Ugljan; 2 km southeast of the village is the bridge, 201 m long, which connects Ugljan with the island of Pasman, over the Zdrelac Strait. In the pine forest on the small peninsula of Zaglav is a tourist village with bungalows and a nice beach.

Kukljica is the most developed seaside resort on the island of Ugljan. It features a number of coves with nice beaches, clear seawater and dense pine forests. Especially interesting are the sand beaches of Sabusa and Delenica on the southern coast of Ugljan, which may be reached only by boat or on foot (there is a trail but there is no access by cars). Sabusa has become very popular because of a picnic party organized every year in June by the local radio-station (Radio 057); Jelenica is a nudist beach.

The tourist village Zelena Punta (Green Cape) offers various sports and recreational opportunities: tennis courts, small playgrounds, boccia grounds, miniature golf, table tennis. Equipment for water sports (pedal boats, canoes, surfing boards) are rented. Kukljica has several good restaurants.

The traditional feast of Our Lady of the Snows includes a solemn procession by boats (5th of August). Entertainment programs are offered during the tourist season.

Kukljica was first mentioned in 1345; the church was built in 1666 (several Glagolitic inscriptions on the front). In the wooded cove of Kostanj are the ruins of a small Gothic church dating back to the 15th century.
